By January 7, 2018Superheroes with Ink

Writing a book involves a lot of thinking from a different angle. While we read a book sometimes we fail to appreciate the efforts of a writer. So as a token of Thanks for writing and introducing us to all different world Tbs Planet have started the Superhero with Ink series. And today the superhero badge goes to  Saket Chattopadhyay.

Let’s hear it from Saket about his book and his own story.

1] Tell us about your recent book?

‘The Bald White Singer’ is a fictional biography of a pop singer. Som Kapoor, the lead protagonist of the story, is an Indian man doing postdoctoral research in the USA. Several life changing events force him to take the unchartered route to name fame and success. Does he succeed? Read the interesting book to find that out. The story is inspiring and entertaining right from page one. The eBook is available on Kindle and the paperback is available on Amazon.com (Ships to India).

2] What motivated you to write this book?

I wanted to write a biography of a famous person. However, the theme that interested me the most was the journey to stardom. The struggle for name fame and money is the toughest. That energy caught me. I always wanted to be a singer. Thus, I decided to build the main character of the story in that direction. This book is all about the possibilities in a common man’s life.

3] What are you now working on?

I am writing a romantic thriller with an unusual setting. I will publish it on 31st March 2018. And further updates will be given on my facebook page.

4] Can you share little details about your background?

I am a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Delhi, India. I did my postdoctoral research at Wistar Institute, Philadelphia, USA. I take guest lectures in various colleges and schools in Delhi these days. That way I can devote some time to my book writing as well. Learning science made me logical. Now, I am polishing the creative part of my brain through novel writing. It is working!!

5] When did you start writing?

I published my first novel ‘The Transfer Protocol’ (A science fiction thriller) in 2016. However, I have been publishing scientific articles since 2003. My second novel ‘My Guru Girls’ was published in July 2017. ‘The Bald White Singer’ is my third novel, published a few days back.

6] Which writers inspire you the most?

The list is long! Let me focus on fiction writers for this interview. I like the books by Paulo Coelho, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Stephen King, J.K Rowling, Munshi Premchand, Amitav Ghosh amongst several others. I like writers who break the usual norms of writing. Ms. J K Rowling’s life story is a great inspiration.

7] Any future projects you are working on?

Yes, I am preparing the skeleton for a science fiction story. But it is at the back-burner right now.

8] What are your hobbies?

I love playing ‘Tabla.’ I do meditation twice daily. Seeing people’s facial reactions is my favourite time pass. I do read a lot.

9] Is there any book you personally love and recommend to all?

‘Autobiography of a Yogi’ by Paramhansa Yogananda is a powerful book. Everyone should read it once in their lifetime.

10] Any advice for budding authors?

Keep writing and reading. Your magical bestseller will materialize eventually. “You lose only when you give up writing” said Ray Bradbury, the famous author.
