Superhero With Ink: Reshma-Yours to Love, Yours to Take

Writing a Book is a task that not only involves your writing skills but also your imagination skills in a wide range. We are celebrating the efforts a writer does to introduce all of us to a different world. In our series of Superhero With Ink today the Superhero badge goes to Reshma Ranjan.

Let’s hear it from Reshma.

1) Tell us about your recent book.

My last published book is Yours to Love, Yours to Take—Salim and Anita’s Sanctum. It is book 1 of the Sanctum Series of Verma Clan.

It is a heartwarming saga of love and sacrifice that will reinstate your belief that love conquers all.

The story is about Salim, a doctor, and Anita, a mute teacher.  The premise is whether Salim will ever be able to ignore Anita’s resemblance to his dead girlfriend and fall in love. It tells the story of Anita and whether she will be able to reveal the real Salim hiding behind the monster and if both of them will embrace their tumultuous attraction for each other despite their terrible start.

2) Can you share little details about your Background?

I was born in Palakkad, Kerala. I’m a graduate in English Language and Literature.

I have three published romance novels and one of my short stories is published in an anthology on addiction called Marijuana Diaries which showcased stories from great writers like Gulzar and Raghuvir Shekhavat.

My husband is an Engineer and works with an MNC.  We reside in Miami, Florida with our two daughters.

3) What motivated you to write this book?

I had started writing it as a novel of a woman named Gayatri who fell in love with a prince of Travancore royalty in the 1950s. I wanted to develop the story of Ria and Suraj, who are the protagonists of my first novel Love Sees No Reason. And before I knew, the story took a life of its own and it became a saga spanning generations. Salim and Anita’s story came out first. I am finalizing the others as we speak.

4) What are you currently working on?

I am writing another series about a Rock Band, its members and their love stories.

5) When did you start writing?

I started on November 1st for NaNoWriMo, November is the only month I piously try to finish a minimum of 50k words since the last three years.

6) Which writers inspire you the most?

There are so many who have inspired me. I love Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, Eric Segal, Nicholas Sparks, Nora Roberts, and Diana Palmer. The list goes on. But the biggest impact on me as a writer would be Barbara Cartland. I could drop anything I’m reading and pick up one of her books without a doubt. The charm and romance of that era have a crazy attraction and the way she handled her female protagonists with their softness and strength is so beautiful.

7) Any future projects you are working on.

Yes, I am working on both, the Sanctum Series and the Rock Band series with many stories waiting to be told. And yes, a few standalone are in the pipeline as well.

I am planning to release three books in December—two books from the Sanctum Series and one standalone novel. I’ll be revealing their cover soon.

8) What are your hobbies?

I love reading and listening to music. I love to research things that catch my fancy. They are often random but sometimes I use them in my stories.

9) Is there any book you personally love and would recommend all the readers?

Wuthering Heights. For a woman of her time and her age with limited exposure, Emily Bronte wrote a heart-wrenching tale with such depth about the complexities of human emotions, especially related to the matter of the heart. Every time I read this novel, Emily Bronte leaves me contemplating for days.

10) Any advice for budding writers.

Write, write and write. No one can stop you except yourself. It takes a shove to write your book but once you do, there are so many stories to be told and so many eyes to devour it. Live in the escapist world (figuratively, of course) you created for your story, and it will become easier to take the readers into that world. Wishing all the aspiring authors the very best!
